Order of Merit
The Order of Merit (OoM) is a season-long competition open to anyone in the RACDGNY Discord. Scoring and the sign up is done in Unknown Golf (UKG).
2025 Order of Merit Overview and Rules
The format is Stableford Quota. We will use the Unknown Golf App (UKG) to track all scores. Your season-long score will be a running average of your ‘score to quota’ from all rounds played. You must declare your round in the OoM Discord channel before you tee off on the first hole for your OoM score to count. Declaration of an OoM round shows intent and prevents anyone from deciding halfway through their round that they don’t want it to count. When you declare, please also share what course you’re playing and what other members you are playing with. You can only play one OoM round per week (Saturday to Friday). You are able to play an OoM round simultaneously with a Match Play round and/or a PGL match.
The cost to participate is $10. You must have a UKG account and in the RACDGNY UKG community to participate. If you played in an event last year, you are already in the RACDGNY community. If you’re not in the RACDGNY community, join here http://ukg.golf/join/RACDGNYMetro.
Primary Function of the Order of Merit
The primary function of the Order of Merit is to enable people to play with other members of the group. In other words, we want you to meet up with other fellow people from the RACDGNY, reunite with old friends, make new ones, and play golf with each other!
In order for your Order of Merit round to count, you must play with at least one other person from the group for it to count as an OoM round. The other person or people from the group does not have to be playing an OoM round. For example, in a foursome of people from the group, one person may be playing an OoM round, and the other three may not.
Order of Merit rounds can only be played at one of 52 anchor site golf courses. Again, this is to encourage group play amongst members of the group. A full list of anchor site golf courses can be found here.
There'll be a "Most Traveled" award for the person that takes the time and effort to travel around, play the most anchor site courses, and meet the most people. This is a silly award, but hopefully encourages those with more flexibility in their schedule to go play with new people at different courses.
We recommend people book blocks of tee times, put it out there to the group, invite people to play, and hang out before or after your round. We want to see OoM “Mini Events” or OoM Days. Post in the Let’s Go Launch Em channel, “who wants to do OoM here? We’ve got 8 or 12 spots” get a Google sheet going to track who is playing, and make a day out of it. Ask the committee for anything you may need, we are here to support any efforts to organize OoM Days.
What’s At Stake
The top three in the standings at the end of June automatically qualify for the Roost Regional team (the fourth qualifier is the winner of our Roost Major, the Shepherd Open). To be eligible for the Roost Regional team, you must play at least 5 OoM rounds by the end of June. If any person or people in the top three are not interested in participating in the Roost Regional, we will go down the leaderboard until we have a team.
The winner at the end of the season on November 14 will win a cash prize and a custom trophy with the winner’s name on it, shipped directly to their home. You must have played a minimum of 10 OoM rounds to be eligible. The trophy is a sign that looks something like this
Official Rules
The main goal of the OoM is to play with other members of the group!
OoM is a season-long event and runs March 1 to November 14. If golf sickos want to get after it on March 1, by all means, do so!
For the month of March and March only, you can play a course with one temp green and it can count towards OoM. No course with two or more temp greens are eligible for OoM. For the rest of the year after March, you cannot play a course with a temp green for OoM.
For those courses in March with one temp green, anything within 5 yards of hole OR anything within the designated circle as laid out by the golf course is an automatic two-putt. You can attempt to make the putt for a one-putt and if you make it, it counts as a one putt.
For those courses in March with one temp green, the temp green hole must play to a similar par to what’s on the scorecard in UKG. Otherwise, the course becomes ineligible for OoM. For instance, if the temp green makes a par 4 play more like a par 3, then that disqualifies the course from OoM. Use your best judgment and don’t be scummy when determining if the temp green drastically changes the par of the hole.
Temp tees are fine as long as they don't drastically change the length and par of the hole. So a 340 yard par 4 suddenly playing as a 240 yard par 4 with temp tees is no good. But 340 to a 320 is fine. Similar to temp greens. Up to two temp tees are allowed.
You must play with at least one other person from the group, and you must declare your round in the OoM Discord channel before you tee off on the first hole for your OoM score to count. Declaration of an OoM round shows intent and prevents anyone from deciding halfway through their round that they don’t want it to count.
When you declare, please also share what course you’re playing and what other members you are playing with.
Not everyone in the group has to be playing an OoM round.
All OoM rounds will be scored using the Stableford Quota System. Your season-long score will be a running AVERAGE of your ‘score to quota’ from all rounds played.
You are able to play an OoM round simultaneously with a Match Play round and/or a PGL match.
Everything will be tracked in Unknown Golf (UKG). You must create a free UKG account if you would like to participate. The app is super easy to use, all you have to do is enter your GROSS scores as you play. YOU MUST SIGN YOUR SCORECARD IN THE APP AFTER YOUR ROUND! After 20 minutes if you have not fixed any errors in your scorecard, it will automatically be entered into the system and your score will stand.
You must play a minimum of 10 rounds to be eligible to win the OoM at the end of November.
You must play 18 holes in one day for an OoM round. 9 hole rounds do not count, and two nines over separate days do not count.
You can only play one OoM round per week (Saturday to Friday)
The top three in the standings at the end of June automatically qualify for the Roost Regional team (the fourth qualifier is the winner of the Roost Major, the Shepherd Open).
To be eligible for the Roost Regional team, you must play at least 5 OoM rounds by the end of June. If any person or people in the top three are not interested in participating in the Roost Regional, we will go down the leaderboard until we have a team.
There'll be a "Most Traveled" award for the person that goes and plays the most anchor courses. There is no prize for this award other than recognition.
All rules disputes will be handled by The Committee and our Head Rules Official, Nick Roden. When in doubt, play two balls and bring the scenario to the committee.
